HEC New Policy to take Admission in Ph.D
The Higher Education Commission Changed the Criteria for taking Admission in Ph.D. The new policy is effective from 1st January 2021.
There is a lot of new in this changed policy.
Important Points
1. Now you can seek direct admission in Ph.D after BS 4 years or Master Degree or after completion 16 Years of education.Now the HEC has waived off the condition of MS or M.Phil.
2. Prior Subject condition has also been abolished by HEC. It means that you can do Ph.D in the subject of your choice , no matter in which subject you did MA or BS.
3. The candidates who did BS 4 Years in semester system must have CGPA 3 out of 4 and those who did master in annual system must have 1st division in that subject.
4. GRE: Graduate Record Examination Test must be cleared by the candidates seeking admission in Ph.D. Here ,the HEC has also given privilege to universities that if they need they can conduct their own designed test.
5. Submission of the Statement of Purpose to the university is necessary for the candidates who are taking admissions in Ph.D.
6. The completion tenure of Ph.D is at least 3 years and upper limit is 8 Years, however,if university feels deficiency in the performance of students,to him or her 2 more years can be given by the university.
7. If any student completes his Ph.D in the specific time,he will be awarded with Ph.D degree and if he does not complete it in the specific time,he will have to appear again.
8. If a student discontinues his Ph.D, the uni will decide whether to award him MS or M.Phil degree.
